Scripture Reading: John 7:10-18

The False Jesus Loved by the World

(Part 2)

Intro.

1.  Review Part 1.

2.  Here are some more attributes of the false Jesus loved by the world.

#5 Jesus doesn't require repentance. Lk. 13:1-5

  a.  "Nowhere did Christ or an apostle teach that repentance demands the breaking of a marriage relationship such as we have been discussing when one obeys the gospel. Neither is it taught by necessary inference. To teach such is to teach a doctrine solely of man. It is to accept the doctrine of doing penance rather than the doctrine of grace" (The Divorced & Remarried Who Would Come to God, Homer Hailey, p. 72).

  b.  Yet, Rom. 6:1-2 (Col. 3:5-7, lived in fornication includes adultery, Matt. 5:32). There can be (are) sinful relationships!

#6 Jesus only preaches on love. Jno. 14:15, 31

  a.  On topic of gay marriage: "No one wants to be discriminated against, and no one wants to feel unloved because they are trying to be who God made them. And yes if you believe in God and that he created the world then yes he absolutely created them too!" (Jesus preached love not hate, period!, Shayna Caldwell, christianslovenothate)

  b.  While Jesus preached love for enemies, He did not deny the presence of enemies, Matt. 5:44-48; cf. Psa. 26:5 (1-8); 139:19-24.

#7 Jesus never says anything offensive. Matt. 15:12-14

-Truth hurts feelings, but saves souls, Acts 2:37-38.

#8 Jesus never tells anyone they’re wicked. Matt. 12:34; 23:33

  a.  Non-judgmental Jesus. Yet, Jno. 9:39-41

  b.  Jesus never said, "go your way, your sin is OK", Jno. 8:11.

#9 Jesus calls everyone His children. Jno. 8:41-44

  a.  True that we are all God's creation (Col. 1:16) and that God loves the whole world (Jno. 3:16)...

  b.  But only those born again are children of God, Jno. 1:10-12; Rom. 8:16; 1 Jno. 3:1-2.

#10 Jesus' commandments are suggestions. Matt. 7:24-27

"This brings us to the crucial question for every professing or potential follower of Jesus: Do we really believe He is worth abandoning everything for? Do you and I really believe that Jesus is so good, so satisfying and so rewarding that we will leave all we have and all we own and all we are in order to find our fullness in Him? Do you and I believe Him enough to obey Him and to follow Him wherever He leads?

Conclusion

If you are following a false Jesus, you should know his real name is Satan (deceiver, Rev. 12:9)!
