Everywhere the Gospel Goes
Intro.
1. “The Gospel is for All” – We are living like the gospel is for (only) us.
2. In NT, the gospel went everywhere and accomplished God’s purposes, Isa. 55:11.
3. Everywhere the gospel goes there are actions and reactions to it.
I. THE GOSPEL WAS PREACHED EVERYWHERE (Rom. 10:17-18).
A. The Great Commission, Matt. 28:19.
1. Jerusalem, Acts 2:5.
2. Judea & Samaria, Acts 8:4-5, 14, 40; Galilee, 9:31; Syria, Acts 9:2, 10; Phoenicia & Cyrene, 11:19-20; Cyprus, 13:4-5; Asia, 13:13-14; Macedonia & Achaia, 16:9-10; 17:15; Italy, 28:16.
3. We have some amazing abilities to “go” today: Internet, books & media, travel, etc., Lk. 12:48.
4. Still requires our time, commitment & sacrifice like it did in first century.
B. The Whole Creation, Mk. 16:15; Col. 1:23.
1. Every gender, race, nationality, creed, culture: all lost, Rom. 3:23.
2. God wants all saved, 1 Tim. 2:3-4 (Acts 10:34-35).
3. God commands all to repent, Acts 17:30.
C. Souls will not be Saved Unless the Gospel goes out into the World, Rom. 10:14-15.
1. Go out through preaching, 1 Cor. 1:21.
2. Go out through Christians living it, Ep. 2:10; 1 Pe. 2:11-12; Ro. 1:8.
II. EVERYWHERE THE GOSPEL GOES IT BEARS FRUIT, Col. 1:6.
A. The Gospel Must First Go into the Heart, Col. 3:16 (Jas. 1:21-22); Lk. 8:12 15.
B. The Fruit of Salvation, 1 Pet. 1:22-25. People are saved!
1. Makes disciples (Matt. 28:19).
2. Christians (Acts 11:26).
C. The Fruit of the Spirit in the Lives of Disciples, Gal. 5:16-26.
1. Every good work, Col. 1:9-10.
2. Effective, 1 Ths. 2:13.
3. Do not undermine the gospel by becoming a stumbling block, Matt. 18:6-7.
D. The Fruit of Local Churches, Acts 2:41-42; 9:31.
1. Individual Christians working & worshiping together, Acts 14:21-23.
2. The gospel makes Christians; Christians form local churches, 1 Cor. 1:2; 12:27.
3. Same teaching – everywhere in every church, 1 Cor. 4:17.
III. THE GOSPEL IS EVERYWHERE SPOKEN AGAINST, Acts 28:22 (cf. Lk. 6:26). [Contradicted, rejected, opposed]
A. Jesus was Spoken Against by Most, Lk. 2:34; Acts 4:11.
B. Endure Resistance & Rejection of Men, Acts 14:22; 1 Ths. 2:14-16.
1. Conflicts (disputants among the lost), 2 Cor. 7:5 (1 Cor. 15:32; 16:8-10).
2. Mockery, Acts 17:32.
3. False brethren (dangers), 2 Cor. 11:26.
C. The Gospel Endures, and We must Endure, 1 Pet. 1:25; Heb. 6:9-12; 2 Tim. 4:7.
Conclusion
1. “Lord, who has believed our report?” Rom. 10:16
a. Many will not obey the gospel.
b. Those who do are saved!
2. Allow the gospel to come into your heart and bears its fruit in your life.
