Sow Your Seed
Intro.
1. Eccl. 11:1-6: Solomon advises diligence in doing good by using the figure of sowing seed.
2. What greater good can there be than to teach the gospel to lost souls and share with them God’s call to salvation?
I. DO GOOD WHILE YOU CAN, Eccl. 11:1-2.
-Teach the gospel to others, John 4:34-36; Matt. 9:37-38.
-We will reap what we sow, Gal. 6:7.
II. DON’T MAKE EXCUSES FOR NOT PLANTING THE SEED, Eccl. 11:3-4.
-Be diligent to work God’s will while you have time, John 9:4; Gal. 6:9-10.
-Don’t blame circumstances or be afraid, Matt. 25:24-25.
III. TRUST THAT GOD WORKS IN BELIEVERS, Eccl. 11:5.
A. He Works Through the Gospel, 1 Thess. 2:13 (seed, 1 Pet. 1:23-25).
B. He Works in You Through Your Obedience, Phil. 2:12-13.
IV. PLANT THE SEED (GOSPEL) IN FAITH, Eccl. 11:6.
A. Faith in the Power of the Gospel, Rom. 1:16.
B. Faith that God Gives the Increase, 1 Cor. 3:6-7.
-Work together and give God the credit.
Conclusion
1. Imagine what would happen if we each committed to teaching and converting one soul over the next two years?
2. Souls would be saved and this church would grow.
3. Require our diligent work to plant the seed and our faith that God will be working to find good soil for His seed.
4. God will give the increase when we plant His seed, the gospel of the kingdom, Mark 4:20.
