Your Bible question was:

>>WHY IS IT THAT THE CHURCH OF CHRIST DOES NOT BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE MUSIC IN WORSHIP ./? WHAT ABOUT MUSIC AT HOME?THANKS<<

First of all, please understand that the "church of Christ" does not establish doctrine. Sound doctrine is established by the word of Christ which has been revealed to us in His New Testament (1 Tim. 6:3; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Col. 3:17).

The church of Christ is not (and does not attempt to be) a denomination among denominations. The church of Christ belongs to Christ and not to any man (Matt. 16:18; Acts 20:28; Eph. 1:22-23; 4:4; 5:23). When Christ saves a lost soul He adds that person to His body, the church (Acts 2:47). As a member of Christ's body (the church) the Christian is to do all things by the authority of Christ and not man (Matt. 28:18; Col. 3:17). That includes who we approach God in worship.

So, we go to the New Testament to determine whether we should offer music to God in worship, and if so, what kind of music He wants. It is evident that the Lord does indeed command that music be offered to Him in worship (Eph. 5:19; James 5:13; Acts 16:25). More specifically, the NT identifies vocal music as the kind of music we are commanded to offer in praise of God (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16; Jas. 5:13). In fact, never in the NT do we read of the first Christians "playing" and "singing" - only singing -- to describe their musical offerings to God. Therefore, we content ourselves to "speak as the oracles of God" speak this matter and practice vocal music (1 Pet. 4:11).

Consequently, we do not add instrumental music to our worship. To do so would be by no higher authority than the human will (Gal. 1:6-10). [The practice of using instrumental music in church worship did not regularly occur until literally hundreds of years after the first century.]
