Your Bible question was:
> I AM HAVING A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING GEN 3:15.  WOULD YOU PLEASE
> CLARIFY WO IS TALKING O WHOM AND WHAT IT MEANS.

Genesis 3:15 is God's pronouncement of judgment against the serpent (Satan)
after he enticed Eve to sin (Gen. 3:1-6).  It is the first recorded
prophecy of the Messiah in the Bible.  In it, God assures Satan that one of
the woman's offspring would destroy the work and power of Satan.   It reads:
"and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and
her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." (ASV)

The enmity between Satan and the seed of woman is the presence of sin in the
world.  The "seed" of woman is Christ (read Galatians 4:4).

The seed of woman in Gen. 3:15 (Christ) would land a death blow to the head
of the serpent.  Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of this prophecy, came to
"destroy the work of the devil" (1 Jno. 3:8), which He did through His death
on the cross and His resurrection from the dead (Heb. 2:14-15; Rom. 1:1-4;
4:24-25).  His sufferings are described as "bruising his heel" in Gen. 3:15.

So, even in the midst of the tragedy of sin and the spiritual death man
incurs because of sin (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 5:12), God promised redemption from
sin & the defeat of Satan in Genesis 3:15.

Thank you again for your question.  I hope this is of help to you.

Sincerely,
Joe Price
